The story of multiple grade 1 winner Mindframe has come full circle. First purchased for $600,000 at the 2022 Keeneland September Yearling Sale by agent Jacob West on behalf of Repole Stable and St. Elias Stables, Mindframe now stands at Claiborne Farm—where West is now the stallion seasons and bloodstock manager—four years later to headline its roster for a fee of $40,000 for the 2027 season.
Mindframe is a son of Constitution (Tapit ). The breed-shaping Tapit has shown his ability to pass on his influence through his sons at stud, including Essential Quality , who currently ranks second on the second-crop sire list; Flightline ; and Tacitus, who ranks fifth among second-crop sires. Tacitus sired his first North American grade 1 winner this year when Dotsy won the Frizette Stakes (G1).
Showing its confidence in the stallion, Claiborne debuted the son of Constitution for $50,000 in 2026, the co-second-highest fee for a newcomer in the United States behind Coolmore's Sierra Leone , who debuted at $75,000.
Claiborne Farm president Walker Hancock is highly optimistic about the young sire's future, noting his excitement about presenting mares in foal from the stallion's inaugural book during the Nov. 6 opening session of Keeneland November's Book 3.
"Mindframe is by Constitution, who had a recent grade 1 winner in the Breeders' Futurity (American History) and I think the sky is the limit for Mindframe," Hancock said.
"He's everything you're looking for in a stallion. He won a grade 1 at 7 furlongs and a grade 1 at 9 furlongs. That's really hard to do and you don't see too many stallions do that in today's age, especially in the same year."
One of the top offerings in foal to Mindframe in Book 3 is Veracious Applause, consigned as Hip 1547. The 8-year-old daughter of Medaglia d'Oro is out of the Distorted Humor mare Veracity, who is out of the multiple graded stakes winner Yell. Veracity is a full sister to stakes winner Cheery and stakes-placed Shrill.
Claiborne Farm is very familiar with Cheery, as she is the dam of its homebred multiple grade 1-winning mare Elate. Veracious Applause also hails from the immediate family of multiple graded stakes winner Tax, who was by Claiborne's legendary stallion Arch.
"Mindframe suits her really well. It's a good cross, good nick, and that family has been good to us," Hancock said.
Veracious Applause turned heads as a yearling, selling for $900,000 to Claiborne Farm at Fasig-Tipton's prestigious The Saratoga Sale in 2019. On Nov. 6, Hancock hopes the mare will do so again.
"She has really pretty foals and I think she's going to have a really pretty Mindframe. A client owns the mare and we hope she ends up in good hands," Hancock said.

Another exciting offering is Another Time, a multiple graded stakes-placed daughter of Munnings . Another Time, consigned as Hip 1154, is out of the Unbridled's Song mare Idoitmyway, who has produced four black-type earners, headed by Another Time and multiple stakes winner Star Student.
Another Time's half sister, the stakes-placed Becca's Rocket (Orb), produced her first foal in 2024, a colt by Jackie's Warrior named Billie's Wish, who sold for $360,000 to B-4 Farms at Fasig-Tipton's The Saratoga Sale in 2025.
Other mares in foal to Mindframe offered by Claiborne during the fourth session of the November sale include Munny Grab (Hip 1392) and Striver (Hip 1501).
Munny Grab is a stakes-placed daughter of Munnings who is out of the stakes-winning mare Another World, and Striver is by the late Uncle Mo. Striver is out of the graded stakes-winning Quality Road mare Lonely Road and hails from the immediate family of multiple graded stakes winner Iron Man Cal.
"They're all young mares in foal to an exciting young sire who we're very high on," Hancock said. "He's turned into an absolute specimen and we're very excited to see his babies.
"I think he matches up with those mares very well and I think whoever buys them is going to really like the foals they get. I can't say enough how excited I am about these foals. I think he's going to reproduce himself and having pretty mares like these is only going to help."
Mindframe was bred in Maryland by R. Larry Johnson, who died in 2025. He is out of the stakes-winning Street Sense mare Walk of Stars, who is a half sister to the graded-placed stakes winner Strike the Moon (Malibu Moon).
Johnson is best known for breeding multiple graded stakes winner Future Is Now and Mindframe, who stem from the same family.
Johnson bought a horse named Ran's Chick for $2,500 in 1978 and although she never raced, she became Johnson's foundation broodmare, with more than 40 stakes winners emerging from the family. Ran's Chick is the fourth dam of both Future Is Now and Mindframe.
"It's a shame that Mr. Johnson passed away and did not see Mindframe go to stud. I know he'd be very, very happy and excited for his future as well," Hancock said.
