Grade 2 winner and grade 1-placed Simplification (Not This Time ) will stand the 2027 season at Rockridge Stud near Hudson, N.Y. Rockridge Stud announced the move Nov. 7.
Simplification will stand for a fee of $5,000, live foal stands and nurses.
An impressive maiden special weight winner by 16 3/4 lengths at 2, Simplification followed that up with a win in the Mucho Macho Man Stakes in his first start at 3 and a second-place finish in the Holy Bull Stakes (G3) behind White Abarrio at Gulfstream Park. He then won the Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) by 3 1/2 lengths followed by a third in the Florida Derby (G1). He finished fourth in the Kentucky Derby (G1), behind Rich Strike , Epicenter , and Zandon . He retired with earnings of $873,110.
Simplification stood three seasons at Pleasant Acres Stallions, near Morriston, Fla., where he covered a total of 255 mares.
"The quality of his foals justifies the investment I'm making in Simp's future by moving him to New York," said owner Tami Bobo. "The owner, breeder, and stallion awards are too good to ignore, and I felt like this was the right time to jump in with both feet."
Bobo is sending 50 mares to New York to support the horse in this move for his fourth season, and also purchased six mares from Keeneland's November Breeding Stock Sale to support Simplification.
Many of the 2-year-old consignors have positive things to say about Simplification's first crop.
"Simplification's first crop is showing great promise. Similar to him, his offspring are strong physicals and have great temperament," said Tristan de Meric of de Meric Sales. "We have several in our care, and they are all showing positive signs in their early training."
Julie Davies and Susan Montayne echoed de Meric's thoughts.
"I've been impressed with the Simplification yearlings we have. They're athletic and straightforward, with great attitudes and enjoy training," Davies said.
"I have two Simplifications, both currently targeted for the 2027 2-year-old sales. Both colts are very forward, have enjoyed the breaking process, and look like athletes," Montayne said.
Consignor and trainer Cesar Loya commented, "I have two Simplification fillies. They are both great-minded and love to train. Not to mention they are both 10.0 movers!"
Simplification will join Rockridge Stud's roster of stallions, which includes Americanrevolution , Mind Control , Sandman , Slumber , and War of Will .
"New York's program has continued to improve year after year and the quality of stallions we're bringing into the state reflects that," said Rockridge owner and manager Lere Visagie. "Purse parity, the Empire Trillium Series, and the new Belmont Park give all New York breeders a great reason to stay and invest even more in this state's strong program."
Rockridge stallion director Erin Robinson commented, "When I saw him in person, I knew we needed him in our barn. He is stunning. Not to mention that his sire line is an excellent complement to our current roster and will fit a wide variety of mares on pedigree."
