Hill 'n' Dale at Xalapa announced Oct. 16 the stud fees for its 2026 stallion roster, led by two-time Horse of the Year Curlin , one of the most preeminent sires at stud today.
The only stallion to have sired three Breeders' Cup winners on the same day and the only stallion to sire four Eclipse champions in the same year will stand for a fee of $225,000 live foal stands and nurses. Curlin's champion son Good Magic , the sire of 2023 Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Mage in his first crop and 2024 Belmont Stakes (G1) winner Dornoch in his second crop, will remain unchanged with his stud fee set at $125,000. Good Magic's yearlings were exceptionally well received at auction with four of his yearlings selling for $1 million or more.
Army Mule 's fee will return to $25,000. Army Mule is the sire of 2-year-old filly Ground Support, who earned a front-running win in the Oct. 4 Miss Grillo Stakes (G2T) at Aqueduct Racetrack, will make her next start in the $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1T).
Arabian Knight , a grade 1 winner by Uncle Mo, was the most popular horse ever to retire to Hill 'n' Dale with 273 mares bred in his first season. His stud fee will remain at $30,000. Charlatan 's fee will be determined at a later date.
"Our goal has always been to offer the best stallion value in the breeding business," Hill 'n' Dale at Xalapa owner John Sikura said. "We feel our 2026 fees will allow breeders to be competitive with the progeny of our stallions. Despite a very robust auction market, we have held our fees to provide value."
