The second Keeneland Championship Sale to be held Oct. 29 at Del Mar has supplemented a 25% ownership interest in grade 1 winner and millionaire Mullikin , a contender for the $2 million Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) Nov. 1 at Del Mar. The ownership interest is offered as the property of WinStar Farm, where Mullikin will enter stud in 2026 for a fee to be announced after the Breeders' Cup.
The Keeneland Championship Sale will be held in the Del Mar paddock days before the track hosts the Breeders' Cup World Championships. The live auction begins at 6:30 p.m. PT.
"Our participation in the Keeneland Championship Sale with our Breeders' Cup Sprint entrant, Mullikin, is an opportunity to run for $2 million in 72 hours and have a stallion to boot," WinStar president, CEO, and racing manager Elliott Walden said. "We're offering more than just a percentage of a Breeders' Cup contender; this is an interest in an accomplished racehorse with a promising stallion career ahead at WinStar Farm."
Mullikin, who is set to return to the Breeders' Cup Sprint after finishing third as the favorite last year, has been remarkably consistent throughout his 15-race career. He has five wins, including the 2024 Forego Stakes (G1), with six seconds, one third, and more than $1.1 million in earnings.
This year, the son of Violence has seconds behind the highly regarded speedster Book'em Danno in the Alfred G. Vanderbilt (G2) and True North (G3) stakes, both at Saratoga Race Course, registering 110 and 116 Equibase Speed Figures, respectively.
In preparation for the Breeders' Cup, Mullikin breezed 5 furlongs Oct. 17 in 1:00 2/5 at Keeneland. Click here for a video of the work.
