With a Winter Storm Warning and extreme cold and snow in the forecast, officials at Turfway Park have canceled racing for the evening of Dec. 13. According to the National Weather Service, approximately 4 inches of snow is expected to fall in the Florence, Ky. region from the afternoon into the evening.
The Saturday evening card was to have featured the $1 million Turfway Park Synthetic Championships—four stakes worth $250,000 apiece. The full program from Saturday will now move to Sunday, Dec. 21. The card will not be redrawn.
The Dec. 21 program, with a first post of 3 p.m. ET., will feature the $250,000 Prairie Bayou Stakes, the $250,000 Holiday Cheer Stakes, the $250,000 My Charmer presented by Claiborne Farm, and the $250,000 Holiday Inaugural Stakes.
