Longtime horse racing host and analyst Matt Carothers announced the launch of a new live series, :58...and Change, set to premiere on YouTube on Friday, October 23, 2026, at noon Eastern. The show will air weekly and marks Carothers' latest on-camera project while he hopes for further opportunities in the wake of FanDuel's wind-down of racing coverage.
The first episode will feature special guest Eddie Olczyk, the former NHL center, Stanley Cup champion, and longtime hockey and horse racing broadcaster. Olczyk played 16 seasons in the NHL, winning the Stanley Cup with the New York Rangers in 1994. He later coached the Pittsburgh Penguins, has been a prominent NHL analyst for networks including NBC and TNT, and was recently named as a Chicago Blackhawks Ambassador. A lifelong horse racing enthusiast and skilled handicapper, he has also served as a regular analyst for NBC Sports' Triple Crown and Breeders' Cup coverage.
Carothers described the new series as a live, energetic, and at least partially humorous continuation of the style that made his earlier TVG program :58 Flat a fan favorite.
"I'm not one to just wait around and hope something falls in my lap," Carothers said. "While waiting and hoping something comes along to fill the FanDuel gap, I'm putting together a new weekly show that fans can watch live. I just published the YouTube page, and I'd love for people to subscribe."
Carothers has been a fixture in horse racing broadcasting since the late 1990s, serving as a host and analyst for TVG (now FanDuel TV) since its launch in 1999. He is known for high-energy analysis, rapid-fire picks, and an accessible on-air style that has resonated with both casual and experienced horseplayers.
The promotional video for :58...and Change has already begun circulating, and the YouTube channel is now live for subscribers ahead of the October 23 premiere.
